.PROTON : now we are talking

As a European, I’ve watched Proton’s growth with great interest and consider it a fantastic initiative.

However, a couple of factors have held me back from fully migrating:
  1. I already rely on another free email provider.
  2. The @proton.me domain feels out of place for me. While "me" means personal to some, to me it stands for Montenegro, and I am French. A .eu extension would have made much more sense (at least to me).

Proton excels as a privacy-focused European alternative that protects data, identity, and security. What excites me most is the recent acquisition of the .proton top-level domain, which gives Proton end-to-end control over its infrastructure.

To truly leverage this security advantage and reinforce its brand identity, it would be amazing if users could create email addresses with a .proton extension (e.g., user@me.proton or user@email.proton). I’d be far more enthusiastic about using and recommending a service with a domain structure that reflects its own infrastructure.

Proton's message of security and European data privacy is strong, and owning the .proton gTLD is a huge step forward for security.
