.BRAND new gTLDs: Google shows the way

Good to know
The .CLUB Registry is stopping to renew dropped domain names. How to understand this:

1. These domain names are going to be available on the market so it is expected that some Premium domain names will be made available for around $10 at Uniregistry when they would have cost much more.
2. All won't be free to register at a small price because there are specialized domain name platforms out there that will register them to auction them. In one word, it means that you will have to bid.
3. Hurry-up because domainers are always the first one informed about this: it started on October the first.

Google, the .BRAND way
You might have noticed that Google just launched its first .BRAND new gTLD: it is blog.google. Surprisingly, this News looks like an answer from this post from last Thursday.

Apple: something coming?
When thinking about Google's moves, I like it to check what followers are doing so I hit "site:.apple" and found the below. Did you see notice the "store.apple"?

New domain name registration volumes:

• New gTLDs related to CITIES (check for the .DUBAI new gTLD);
• New gTLDs related to CATERING;
• New gTLDs related to PHOTOGRAPHY;
• French connotations (some new gTLDs were removed from the list);
• HOT - Generic new gTLDs;
• New gTLDs related to CARS;
• New gTLDs related to HEALTH.

The new gTLD info for Wednesday, June 22nd

Easter holidays are coming and we are moving to the south of France because we work harder under the sun at that period. Of course, we will publish everyday but expect less information: we have noticed that fewer people work during this period...and this lasts until September. Google's projects for new gTLDs

This is something that I like to do: use the Google's advanced search to check about new domain names created in a specific new gTLD. Today I searched for potential new domain names created by Google and I found three interesting one:

1. map.google
2. translate.google
3. classroom.google

Most of the time, these new domain name creations are redirected to existing projects but these are not and point to an error. If the sub-domain redirections for Google Maps are active (maps.google.com and maps.google.com), the sub-domain translate.google.com points to the right service so what is the idea behind the creation of these ultra short domain names ending with the ".GOOGLE" extension?

To do your own search:

1. go to Google;
2. search for something (whatever);
3. click on the little wheel on top right of the window;
4. select "advanced search";
5. remove what you searched for in the "all these words" field, and leave it empty;
6. go down to "site or domain" and enter the domain name extension you are interested in;
7. click on "Advanced Search";
8. Done.
